Helical Piles Saves Money on Small Jobs

Customer needed a small flare.  Where it was to be installed required a deep foundation.

Low helical pile mobilization cost saves significant cost over ACIP installation

ACIP piles were the standard deep foundation design used by this facility.  Around 2/3 the cost of the ACIP proposal was for mobilization cost.  This did not include the cost of rebar cages or spoils disposal.

An evaluation of helical piles was performed.  Four vertical steel helical piles provided an extremely conservative design for the vertical loads.  Four battered piles were also included for lateral loading.  This was also an extremely conservation design over what was required.  The cost to install the helical piles worked out to be less than 75% of the ACIP cost.
