Low Clearance

Overhead Obstructions

Pile segments being installed under operating pipe and electrical conduit.

Customer was replacing existing T-Post pipe rack with a new wider rack.  This was an extension of an existing pipe rack and it was desired to maintain the same column lines.  This area turned out to be an area that had been filled in years earlier.   Geotechnical and Civil Engineering recommendations were for the rack to be supported on piles so that it was supported on firm undisturbed soil.  The existing lines on the T-Posts were in service when the piles needed to be installed.  The pile installation equipment needed to be able to stay under the lowest pipe.  Helical pile installation equipment were the perfect solution.  Piles were installed to 35′ depth even though there was less than 8′ of clearance available.  This area contained many old underground lines.  Each pile location was excavated and probed in order to locate obstructions.

Basement Installation

Piles installed in building basement for new foundation. Access clearance 82.5″. Pile installation clearnance ~8′

A new foundation was needed in the basement of a facility. The entrance ramp has locations where the height was only 82.5″ high. Overhead clearance at the foundation location was approximately 8 feet high. A total of eight helical piles were installed to a depth of 30 feet. Ultimate pile capacity was 110,000 lbs/pile.
